Description
Armoury House, located on Kenmore Street in Aberfeldy, dates from around 1840 and was extended in 1998. This single-storey and attic building features a three-bay design in the Breadalbane Estate cottage style. The structure is made of chlorite-slate rubble with roughly squared quoins, and the rear is harled. It has a pointed-arch voussoired doorway, with timber transoms and mullions.
On the north elevation, the central bay includes a gabled stone porch with a vertically-panelled timber door and a vertically-astragalled four-part fanlight. To the right, there is a gabled bay featuring a slate-roofed canted window at ground level, which contains a nine-light window flanked by two four-light windows, all of which are transomed, along with a blocked window in the gablehead. The lower bay to the left of the centre has transomed four-light windows at ground level and in the stone dormer above.
The east elevation showcases a gabled design with transomed four-light windows on each floor, while a harled wing is set back to the outer left. The west elevation features transomed four-light windows at ground level and in the stone dormer that breaks the eaves above. The south elevation is a blank gabled wall with a harled extension projecting at the outer right.
The building has multi-pane leaded glazing in its casement windows, with graded grey slates on the roof. It also features coped ashlar octagonal shafted stacks and overhanging eaves adorned with decorative pierced bargeboards. Surrounding the property are semicircular-coped rubble boundary walls.
