43, 43A Kenmore Street, Aberfeldy

45 Kenmore Street in Aberfeldy is a pair of traditional houses dating from the early to mid 19th century. The buildings are two stories high with an attic and consist of six bays, with two-story houses adjoining at the rear. They are constructed from chlorite-slate rubble and feature large quoins, projecting cills, and slab lintels. There is a base course at No 43.

The north elevation is symmetrical, with the left bays featuring a swept canopy and decorative brackets above a modern door, flanked by windows on the ground floor. The first floor has regular fenestration and canted dormer windows over the outer bays. The right bays mirror this design but include a corniced and pilastered doorpiece with a part-glazed timber door and a plate glass fanlight.

The east elevation is a blank gable, while the west elevation has a gabled design with a window on the left at each floor.

No 43A features an east elevation with a central bay containing a door at ground level and a window above. There is a window in the penultimate bay to the right at each floor, with additional windows at ground level. The south elevation is a gabled design with a window to the left at ground level and two windows on the first floor. The west elevation is largely blank, facing the courtyard.

Ivy Cottage has a west elevation with a timber porch in the right bay at ground level, flanked by windows, and regular fenestration on the first floor. The south elevation is gabled with a modern conservatory at ground level. The east elevation is largely blank, overlooking the courtyard.

The windows at No 45 have a 12-pane glazing pattern, while other windows feature 4-pane and plate glass glazing patterns, all in timber sash and case. No 43A has modern top-opening glazing. The roofs are covered with graded grey slates, and there are coped ashlar stacks with thackstanes and some cans, along with overhanging eaves.
