Description
37 Kenmore Street in Aberfeldy is a pair of traditional houses built in the earlier to mid 19th century. They are two stories tall, with an attic, and consist of seven bays. The houses are constructed from chlorite-slate rubble, featuring large quoins and slab lintels, while the rear is harled.
The north (principal) elevation is nearly symmetrical. On the right side, there is a corniced and pedimented doorpiece with a modern timber door and a letterbox fanlight, flanked by windows. The first floor has regular fenestration, and there are canted dormer windows over the outer bays. On the left side, there is a modern door in the center, two windows to the left, and an altered/enlarged window to the right, with three regularly spaced windows on the first floor.
The east elevation features a gable with a window on the right at ground level. The west elevation is a blank gabled wall. The south elevation of No. 39 includes a French window on the left and a timber door with a plate glass fanlight on the right at ground level, along with a small window to the right on the first floor.
For Nos. 35 and 41, the east elevation of No. 35 showcases a variety of elements, including a central door and ground and first floor windows with modern hardwood frames, along with four large modern rooflights. The west elevation of No. 41 features a timber porch and pedimented window heads on the first floor that break the eaves. The south elevation has a modern gable with conservatories at ground level and enlarged windows above.
The windows throughout are mostly timber sash and case, with four-pane and plate glass glazing patterns. The roofs are covered with grey slates, with some early sections still visible. Coped ashlar stacks include some thackstanes and cans, and the eaves are overhanging with plain bargeboarding.
