Description
Mid 19th century. 2-storey, 7-bay pair of traditional houses with 2-storey houses adjoining to rear. Chlorite-slate rubble with large quoins, projecting cills and slab lintels. Harl pointing lined as ahlar at No 50.
NOS 48 AND 50:
N (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: near symmetrical. Bays to right with modern door to centre, windows in flanking bays and panelled timber door with letterbox fanlight to outer right, 3 regularly-disposed windows at 1st floor. Bays to left mirror the above but with part-glazed panelled timber door and door to outer left blocked.
E ELEVATION: gabled bay to left with No 46 (see below) adjoining at outer right.
W ELEVATION: gabled bay to right with window to left at ground and blocked window to centre above. Slightly recessed bays to left with 2 windows to ground and dormerheaded window breaking eaves at outer left.
NO 46:
E ELEVATION: bay to left of centre with 2-leaf boarded timber door and plate glass fanlight, window to right and dormerheaded window above.
Lying 12-pane glazing pattern to S at 1st floor outer right and ground floor outer left, 4-pane and plate glass glazing patterns elsewhere, all in timber sash and case windows. Graded grey slates. Coped ashlar stacks with some cans. Overhanging eaves,
ANCILLARY BUILDING: fine rectangular-plan rubble and slate ancillary to rear of No 46. Stone forestair and boarded timber door to E; further unaltered openings to N and S.
