Description

46 Kenmore Street in Aberfeldy is a pair of traditional houses built in the mid 19th century, featuring two stories and seven bays. The buildings are constructed from chlorite-slate rubble with large quoins, projecting cills, and slab lintels. The pointing is harl lined as ashlar at No 50.

For Nos 48 and 50, the north (principal) elevation is nearly symmetrical. On the right side, there is a modern door at the center, flanked by windows, and a panelled timber door with a letterbox fanlight to the outer right. The first floor has three regularly spaced windows. The left side mirrors this layout but features a part-glazed panelled timber door, with the outer left door blocked. The east elevation has a gabled bay to the left, adjoining No 46 at the outer right.

On the west elevation, there is a gabled bay to the right with a window to the left at ground level and a blocked window above. The slightly recessed bays to the left have two windows at ground level and a dormer-headed window breaking the eaves at the outer left.

For No 46, the east elevation has a bay to the left of center featuring a two-leaf boarded timber door with a plate glass fanlight, a window to the right, and a dormer-headed window above. The first floor on the south side has a 12-pane glazing pattern at the outer right and a 4-pane and plate glass glazing pattern elsewhere, all within timber sash and case windows. The roofs are covered with graded grey slates, and there are coped ashlar stacks with some cans, along with overhanging eaves.

At the rear of No 46, there is a fine rectangular-plan rubble and slate ancillary building. It features a stone forestair and a boarded timber door on the east side, with further unaltered openings on the north and south sides.
