Description

Earlier to mid 19th century. 2-storey and 2-storey with attic, 6-bay pair of traditional houses with 2-storey, 4-bay dwellings adjoining at rear. Chlorite-slate rubble with large quoins, projecting cills and slab lintels. Base course to No 19.

NOS 17 AND 19:

N (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: symmetrical. Bays to left with panelled timber door to centre, windows in flanking bays, regular fenestration to 1st floor and slate-roofed canted dormer windows over outer bays. Bays to right as above but with corniced and pilastered doorpiece, part-glazed timber door and without dormers.

E AND W ELEVATIONS: blank gabled elevations.

S ELEVATION: No 17 with timber door and adjacent window to right in altered opening at ground and tiny window to left at 1st floor, No 15 (see below) projecting at left. No 19 with timber door to right and tripartite window to left at ground, tiny window to right above and No 19A (see below) projecting at right.

NO 15:

E ELEVATION: canopied 2-leaf boarded timber door in bay to right of centre, windows to each floor at outer right, further window to left with tall timber-boarded opening (see Notes) above; broad boarded timber door to outer left.

S ELEVATION: gabled elevation (forming 'M' gable with No 19A) with door and fanlight at centre.

NO 19A:

W ELEVATION: timber porch to right of centre with 2 windows to left at ground and 2 bipartite windows at 1st floor each breaking eaves into timber-pedimented dormerhead.

S ELEVATION: blank gabled elevation.

Mainly plate glass glazing in timber sash and case windows; No 15 retains 6- and 8-pane glazing patterns; casement window to No 19A. Graded grey slates, concrete tiles to W pitch of No 15. Coped ashlar and harled stacks with thackstanes and some cans.
