Description

15 Kenmore Street in Aberfeldy is a pair of traditional houses built in the earlier to mid 19th century. The buildings are two stories tall, with an attic, and feature six bays, along with two adjoining two-story, four-bay dwellings at the rear. They are constructed from chlorite-slate rubble and have large quoins, projecting cills, and slab lintels. There is a base course at No 19.

The northern (principal) elevation is symmetrical. The left side has a panelled timber door in the center, flanked by windows, with regular fenestration on the first floor and slate-roofed canted dormer windows over the outer bays. The right side mirrors this arrangement but features a corniced and pilastered doorpiece, a part-glazed timber door, and lacks dormers.

The eastern and western elevations are blank gabled walls. The southern elevation of No 17 has a timber door and an adjacent window to the right in an altered opening at ground level, with a tiny window to the left on the first floor. No 15 projects at the left. No 19 has a timber door to the right and a tripartite window to the left at ground level, with a tiny window to the right above and No 19A projecting at the right.

For No 15, the eastern elevation has a canopied two-leaf boarded timber door in the bay to the right of center, with windows on each floor at the outer right and another window to the left above a tall timber-boarded opening. There is a broad boarded timber door to the outer left. The southern elevation features a gabled design, forming an 'M' gable with No 19A, and has a door with a fanlight at the center.

No 19A has a western elevation with a timber porch to the right of center, two windows to the left at ground level, and two bipartite windows on the first floor that break the eaves into a timber-pedimented dormerhead. The southern elevation is a blank gabled wall.

The buildings mainly feature plate glass glazing in timber sash and case windows. No 15 retains 6- and 8-pane glazing patterns, while No 19A has a casement window. The roofs are covered with graded grey slates, except for the western pitch of No 15, which has concrete tiles. The chimneys are made of coped ashlar and harled stacks, with thackstanes and some cans.
