Description
23 Kenmore Street in Aberfeldy is a pair of traditional houses built in the earlier to mid 19th century, featuring two storeys and six bays, along with a two-storey, two-bay cottage at the rear. The buildings are constructed from chlorite-slate with large quoins and slab lintels, while the rear is harled with heavy harl pointing.
The north elevation is symmetrical, with the left bays featuring a part-glazed timber door at the center on the ground floor, flanked by windows, and regular fenestration on the first floor. The right bays mirror this arrangement but include a timber-clad pilastered and corniced doorpiece with a modern door.
The east and west elevations are blank gabled walls. The south elevation shows No 23 with a flat-roofed single-storey addition at the ground level and a small window to the left on the first floor. No 25 has a single-storey lean-to extension and a small window to the right on the first floor, with Fonesca Cottage projecting at the center.
Fonesca Cottage features a west elevation with a lean-to porch projecting at the center, a window in the right bay at ground level, and two additional windows on the first floor. The windows throughout have a plate glass glazing pattern in timber sash and case style, while Fonesca Cottage has modern glazing. The roofs are covered with graded grey slates, and there are coped ashlar stacks with thackstanes and some cans.
