Description
The Northern District School in Perth, designed by G P K Young in 1908, is an example of Edwardian Renaissance architecture. This two-storey building features symmetrical red sandstone fronts on the northwest and southeast sides, with six-window flanks. The double-stepped northwest front includes a central entrance porch that has a tall arched window, which rises into a segmental pediment above. Flanking this are two long segment-headed windows, and there are four-window breaks leading to advanced one-window wings. The roof is slated and is adorned with two cupolas that have Ionic columns and weather vanes.
