Description

Peddie and Forbes Smith, 1912-14. Edwardian

Renaissance large and symmetrical U-plan County

Buildings. Red ashlar, channelled at ground. Central

range has raised centrepiece with consoled and

pedimented doorpiece, arched 3-light window above with

Doric-columned mullions, and flanked by channelled

pilaster strips. Wings 5 bays deep, frontal ends repeat

design of central pavilion, without doors. Balustraded

wall-head parapets and 1st floor aprons. Piended and

plaformed roofs, attic windows concealed by parapets.

Small-paned sashes.

Council chamber at rear with pedimented doorpieces and

columned screens.
