Blairmount, 8 Kirkmichael Road, Moulin

Blairmount is an 18th-century traditional house that has been altered, possibly raised, in the mid-19th century. It is a two-storey, three-bay building with a rectangular plan, featuring an attached single-storey ancillary structure. The exterior is harled.

On the south elevation, the central bay at ground level has a small half-timbered porch supported by rustic poles, leading to a part-glazed timber door. To the right, there are two small windows, and a further single window is located in the bay to the left. The first floor has three regularly spaced windows, each breaking the eaves into dormer heads.

The north elevation, facing the churchyard, has a deep-set window off-centre to the right at ground level and another off-centre to the left at the first floor. The west elevation, facing Kirkmichael Road, is a blank gabled wall with a broad gablehead stack. The east elevation features a gabled wall with a broad gablehead stack and a single-storey piended ancillary structure projecting at ground level, which has two square windows to the left and a door to the right.

The windows are timber sash and case with a 12-pane glazing pattern. The roof is covered with graded grey slates, and the stacks are coped with harling and have thackstanes and some cans. The dormer windows have plain bargeboarding.

The property is complemented by flat-coped square-section ashlar gatepiers, low coped boundary walls, and inset hooped iron railings.
