Description

Glencarse House is a building designed by R. and J. Adam in 1790. It was originally constructed as a two-storey house with a basement and features an H-plan layout with single-storey wings. The southern front has a central bow. In 1889, eastern additions were made, and the house was stuccoed with a channelled ground floor and other alterations. A single-storey addition was added to the main block on the northern front, and a western addition with a stairway to the south garden was completed in 1923. Inside, there are a few remnants of the original Adam interior decoration, although it is now primarily in a weak Louis Quinze style.
