Description
Grant Lodge is a building located on Lodge Lane, North College Street in Elgin, designed by Robert Adam between 1766 and 1769, with an addition to the rear in 1790-91 and early to mid-19th century alterations. The structure has two storeys and an attic, featuring a wide three-bay front and a later two-storey wing with a raised basement at the rear. The exterior is harled with polished ashlar margins and dressings.
The central bay is advanced and has an ashlar balustrade, with channelled clasping angle pilaster strips, and is fronted by an early to mid-19th century tetrastyle porte-cochere. On the ground floor, there are flanking canted bay windows with balustraded parapets. The first floor windows are set in architraves, with a canted bay on the west elevation and a canted oriel in the wing. The building features a deep eaves band, cornice, and blocking course, along with 12-pane sash windows. It has ridge stacks and a piended slate roof.
