Description

James Marshall, 1903. Single storey and attic, shallow U-plan bobbin factory with Glasgow Style details. Red brick with stone coping. Recessed arcade with cill course to ground floor; brick corbel above; pilasters dividing bays; wallhead raised and corniced above pilasters; hoodmoulded oculi set in attic gableheads; stylized Dutch gables; coped parapet.

NE (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: symmetrical 7-bay; each bay divided by brick pilasters and comprising round-arched window; hoodmould to former doorway in bay to outer right (now blocked to form pedestrian doorway); gables to central and outer bays; 4 semi-circular dormers.

NW (BLAIR STREET) ELEVATION: 4-bay; round-arched windows in 3 basys to outer left; 2 bays toouter left gabled; pedestrian doorway flanked by windows in bay to outer right.

SE ELEVATION: M-gabled 4-bay; blinded arch in bay to outer right; window in adjoining bay; remaining bays obscured by garage; grey brick flat-roofed addition between gables.

SW (REAR) ELEVATION: single storey painted brick addition between the original wings (metal-framed windows; grey slate roof). Small-pane timber glazing pattern. Grey slate roof.
