Description
67 Albert Street in Kirkwall is a tenement building from the earlier to mid 19th century, with possible remodelling in the later 19th century and further alterations. It is a three-storey, three-bay structure that is nearly symmetrical, featuring a shop on the ground floor. The exterior is harled with plain cement margins around the openings and has strip quoins.
On the principal elevation, there are modern shop windows with a glazed door in the central and left bays, and a common stair entrance with an architrave in the right bay. The upper floors have regular fenestration.
The side elevation includes an attic window positioned to the right of the gable, topped by a multi-flue gablehead stack. The ground floor has modern shop windows, while the upper floors feature two-pane timber sash and case windows. The roof is made of grey slate with a stone ridge, stone skews, and harled corniced stacks with stone angles on both the north and south sides. The roof also has ridged cylindrical cans and uPVC rainwater goods.
The interior consists of a modern shop on the ground floor, while the upper floors remain unseen and were updated in 1998.
