Description

63 and 65 Albert Street in Kirkwall is a two-storey and attic, three-bay tenement building dating from the earlier to mid-19th century, with possible remodeling in the later 19th century and later alterations. It is part of a terrace and features a harled exterior with plain cement margins around the windows and polished pink granite margins at the ground level, which also serves as a continuous base course. The building has strip quoins.

On the principal elevation, there is a modern shop window with a glazed door on the left, spanning the central and right bays at ground level. To the left, there is a deep-set common stair entrance. The first floor has regular fenestration, with two evenly spaced dormer windows that break the eaves above.

The north side elevation has a single-storey building (Number 61) at ground level, with a small attic window above it, set to the left, and a gablehead stack. The ground level features a modern shop window, while the upper floor has two-pane timber sash and case windows. The roof is covered with grey slate, featuring a stone ridge and stone skews, along with a harled, corniced multi-flue gablehead stack to the north and a common harled stack to the south. The building has cast-iron rainwater goods.

The interior consists of a modern shop at ground level, with the upper floors remaining unseen, last noted as being updated in 1998.
