Huip Farmhouse, Stronsay

Huip Farmhouse is likely an 18th-century, tall, two-storey and attic, three-bay, symmetrical, single-pile gabled farmhouse. It features gabled dormers, an advanced gabled porch, and a single-storey, two-bay wing attached to the north gable. The property includes an associated walled garden, domestic ancillary buildings, and steading buildings. The exterior is finished with roughcast-rendered masonry and has regular fenestration set in deep, unmargined window reveals. The front door, which is timber-boarded, is located in the side elevation of the gabled porch. The dormers and porch are topped with stumpy finials.

The windows predominantly have four-pane glazing in timber sash and case style, with some featuring twelve-pane glazing. The gables, dormers, and porch have ashlar-coped skews, and the wallhead stacks are corniced and coped, fitted with yellow clay cans. The roof is covered with grey stone slates.

Inside, the farmhouse retains its original room layout, consisting of two rooms on each floor flanking a central staircase, with a smaller room located behind. Original timber fittings are still in place.
