Description

Circa 1908. 2-storey, rectangular-plan asymmetrical meal mill comprising slightly recessed and taller single bay kiln to E end (with large kiln vent) and 3-bay threshing mill to W; tall lean-to at rear (N) of threshing mill. Random rubble.

S (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: threshing mill: doorway with window (blocked) at 1st floor above in bay to centre and to right. Window at 1st floor in bay to left. Kiln: window offset to left at ground; centred window at 1st floor above.

N (REAR) ELEVATION: threshing mill: blank wall to lean-to offset to right; boarded door in left return. Window at each floor in bay to right. Kiln: boarded door, offset to right at ground; centred window at 1st floor above.

E (SIDE) ELEVATION: window at each floor to gabled elevation.

W (SIDE) ELEVATION: window at each floor to gabled elevation; window in lean-to bay to left.

Most windows boarded or blocked, (originally small-pane glazing); remnants of fixed timber-framed, 9-pane windows to E; rooflights to both pitches. Purple slate roof; stone ridge; coped skews; tapered, timber, square-section vent to ridge of kiln.

INTERIOR: oil-powered engine machinery and timber threshing mechanism in situ; timber staircase with timber handrail.
