Description

Peckhole Meal Mill, built around 1908, is a two-storey, rectangular-plan asymmetrical meal mill. It features a slightly recessed and taller single bay kiln at the eastern end, which has a large kiln vent, and a three-bay threshing mill to the west. At the rear (north), there is a tall lean-to attached to the threshing mill, and the structure is constructed of random rubble.

On the southern (principal) elevation, the threshing mill has a doorway with a blocked window above it in the central and right bays. There is also a window in the left bay at the first floor. The kiln has a window offset to the left at ground level and a centrally located window at the first floor above.

The northern (rear) elevation of the threshing mill shows a blank wall next to the lean-to, which is offset to the right, and a boarded door on the left side. There is a window on each floor in the right bay. The kiln features a boarded door, offset to the right at ground level, and a centrally located window at the first floor above.

The eastern (side) elevation has a window on each floor of the gabled section. Similarly, the western (side) elevation includes a window on each floor of the gabled section and an additional window in the lean-to bay on the left.

Most windows are boarded or blocked, although there are remnants of fixed timber-framed, 9-pane windows on the eastern side. The mill has rooflights on both pitches, a purple slate roof with a stone ridge, coped skews, and a tapered, timber, square-section vent at the ridge of the kiln.

Inside, the mill retains its oil-powered engine machinery and timber threshing mechanism, along with a timber staircase that has a timber handrail.
