Description
Norwood is an asymmetrical double villa built in 1875 or 1876, likely by Robert Turnbull. It is designed to resemble one large house and stands two storeys tall, featuring a three-storey campanile at the southwest re-entrant angle. The exterior is constructed of stugged ashlar with polished dressings, and some of the windows above ground level have stone balconies. The villa has plate glass sash windows and a wide, canted three-bay end facing the roadside, with a porch located in the re-entrant angle formed by the campanile. The north (garden) elevation is long and consists of four bays, with outer canted windows and a door leading to Hillcroft, which is situated below a canopied hood supported by stylised pilasters. The building features bracketed eaves, distinctive flue stacks, and slate roofs.
