Description
Craigard is a 2-storey villa, likely designed by Robert Turnbull and built around 1875-76. Constructed of snecked rubble with ashlar dressings, the villa features a prominent band separating the floors. The east-facing elevation has mullioned windows arranged in a 2-bay configuration, while a deep, full-height bowed bay extends to the left, topped with an iron roof finial. A square bay is visible on the north side, with the front door set forward within a glazed projection. The building has a band at the eaves and lintels, bracketed wide eaves, and stacks with original decorative flues. The roof is slate, with a piended, shallow pitch. A rear wing was altered in 1982, and subsequent additions have been removed. The interior contains distinctive decorative features representative of the "Thomsonesque" style.
