Description
Woodend is a Greek revival villa built in 1875 or 1876, likely designed by Robert Turnbull in the style of Alexander Thomson. The building has two storeys and a basement, featuring a two-bay north elevation with either pilastered or plain mullioned windows. There is a projecting square window on the ground floor in the shallow-gabled right bay. The east side has a porch with a tall doorway that includes inset pilasters and steps leading to a panelled door. The exterior is constructed of squared rubble with ashlar dressings, and it has plate glass sash windows, a band between the floors, corniced stacks, and a broad-eaved slate roof. The interior also reflects the "Thomsonesque" style.
