Description

11-15 Stirling Street in Airdrie is a two-storey, three-bay, rectangular-plan, gabled classical retail building designed by Alexander Thomson in 1923. The exterior features red brick with yellow sandstone ashlar margins and a base course.

On the principal (north) elevation, there is a pilastered, tripartite plate glass shop front at the ground level. The centre has a pedimented Venetian window that breaks the eaves, flanked by windows with stugged moulded architraves.

The rear (south) elevation was not visible in 2001, while both side elevations (east and west) are obscured by adjacent buildings. The centre bay has geometric patterned, fixed small-pane windows, and the building also includes six-pane timber sash and case windows. The roof is covered with grey slates and lead flashing, featuring broad coped gabled stacks.

Inside, there are modern shop fittings on the ground floor, but the upper storey was not visible in 2001.
