Description
Rose Cottage is a probably 18th century, single-storey cottage situated on sloping ground in Auchencairn, Isle of Arran. Built of whitewashed rubble with a corrugated metal roof, the cottage has a sloping ridge. A gable stack is visible on the road-facing elevation, and a ridge stack is also present. The front elevation features a timber lean-to porch centrally on the right side, a door to the right, and two windows to the left. A single-bay addition to the centre right is visible on the rear elevation, along with various openings. The interior has not been inspected. Rose Cottage is one of a small number of remaining vernacular buildings of its kind on Arran, and may originally have comprised a cottage and an attached byre.
