Manse, Whiting Bay Church, Whiting Bay, Arran

This is an early 20th century manse, situated at Whiting Bay Church on the Isle of Arran. It is a single storey and attic building with a rectangular plan. The front is constructed of red bull-faced and snecked rubble sandstone with ashlar margins; the sides and rear are harled, and the roof is covered in grey slate with swept eaves. The manse has mostly original timber sash and case windows, with single panes at the bottom and multi-panes at the top on the front elevation (modern replacement frames to the dormerheads). Most windows on the rear elevation are 8-pane. There are tripartite ashlar-coped gabled dormerheads on the front and bipartite swept dormerheads on the rear. Moulded eaves and coped end stacks are present, along with cast-iron rainwater goods.

The front elevation features a partially glazed door at the centre, with a small 4-pane window to the left and a bracketted canopy porch with a slate roof. A tripartite stair window is located above the porch. A tripartite window is on the left, and a tripartite flat-roofed canted window on the right, with two dormerheads above.

The left return elevation includes a window to the right, a slate roof lean-to, and a shallow projection at attic level. The right return elevation has windows to the left and right, and a similar shallow projection at attic level.

The rear elevation features four ground floor windows, a door to a lean-to on the left, and three dormerheads. The interior of the manse has not been inspected. The statutory address is Isle of Arran, Whiting Bay, Stewart Memorial Church, Manse.
