Millhouse, Monamore Bridge, Lamlash, Arran

Millhouse at Monamore Bridge in Lamlash, Arran, is an earlier 19th century former mill house. It is designed in an L-plan and features a single storey with an attic. The front is finished in painted stugged ashlar, while the gables are harled, and the single storey wing at the rear is made of painted rubble with painted ashlar dressings. The building has a slate roof, a base course, margined angles, and a prominent wallhead course. It includes 12-pane timber sash and case windows with painted ashlar margins, as well as dormers that have shouldered and gabletted pediments. The gabletted ashlar-coped skews are complemented by bracketted skewputts, and there are corniced end stacks.

On the front elevation, there is a boarded door at the center with an astragalled fanlight, framed by a chamfered doorcase with a block pediment. To the left and right of the door are windows, along with two dormers and a modern rooflight. The right return elevation features a blank gable and a single storey, pentice-roofed porch with a door and window at the right angle, extending around to the rear elevation. The left return elevation has a window at the right gable and two windows with three rooflights in a slightly recessed bay on the left.
