Description

Dalgorm is a two-storey, L-plan villa designed by Sir John James Burnet and built in 1899. The building features harled brick with tooled red ashlar dressings and a slate roof adorned with terracotta ridge tiles. The windows are primarily fixed multi-pane at the top with larger pane casements at the bottom, all featuring prominent cills, mullions, and lintels. The villa has bracketed eaves and half-timbered gables, along with a coped stepped wallhead at the right of the front elevation and coped stacks with uniform squat terracotta cans.

On the front elevation, there is a boarded door with a window and an inscribed lintel reading 'AD 1899', which is recessed under a swept roof to the left. Above, a multi-pane dormer with a cat-slide roof is present. To the right, a wide flat-roofed bay slightly advances, rising through the roof and featuring two windows on the ground floor and a tripartite window on the first floor. The left return gable includes a stair window and a window on the first floor. The right return elevation has a window on both the ground and first floors to the right, an outshot stack from the first floor to the centre, and a blank flat-roofed bay to the left.

The rear elevation includes a door to the left, a window to the right, and a lean-to at the far right, with a blank space on the first floor.

Inside, there is a large stairwell with a pitch pine scale and platt staircase, plain balusters, and moulded cornices. The doors are boarded, and some partition walls have been removed. There is an original (though damaged) chimneypiece on the ground floor with a later insert. The property is enclosed by a rubble boundary wall at the front.
