Description
Dunach, located by Loch Feochan, is a 2-storey asymmetrical Tudor-Jacobean villa designed by William Burn around 1825. The building is constructed of cream ashlar and features ashlar mullioned windows with chamfered margins and ashlar pediments that break the eaves.
On the south elevation, there is a gabled bay that is recessed to the outer right of the main block. An ashlar portico in the re-entrant angle has curvilinear and ogee gables with an octagonal shaft at the angle, which screens a window in the center and a doorway to the left. Above the portico, there is a bipartite window with a hoodmould on the first floor, and a small bipartite window in the attic. The main block is advanced to the left and features a squared window bay with four lights and a moulded parapet, positioned off-center to the left. A tall chimney base breaks the eaves above, topped by an octagonal stack. There are also bipartite pedimented windows breaking the eaves on both the right and left sides, and a full-height canted window with a 1-3-1 light arrangement and gablets on the outer right.
The west side elevation has a taller gabled bay to the right with a full-height canted window. To the outer left, there is a squared window bay with three lights, and above it, a pedimented tripartite window breaks the eaves.
On the east side elevation, there is a canted window bay with a 1-3-1 light arrangement and a moulded parapet in the center. To the right and left, there are two pedimented bipartite windows that break the eaves above.
The villa features 2-pane timber sash and case windows, a grey slate roof with ashlar coped skews, skewputts, and finials. The tall diagonally set and grouped corniced stacks have moulded cans. The interior has not been seen.
