30 James Street in Stornoway, Lewis, is a double villa built in 1883. This symmetrical, crow-stepped building has two storeys and an attic, featuring four bays arranged in a 1-2-1 pattern. The paired inner doors and first-floor windows are connected by a shared hood and are located in the centre gabled bay. The outer bays have canted ground floor windows, while the first floor has crow-stepped dormer heads. The structure is made of pinned, coursed, and squared rubble with squared dressings and painted details, although it has modern glazing. The villa has corniced apex stacks and a slate roof, with low and flat-roofed dormers close to the roof ridge on each side. There are modern additions on either side, including a guest house accommodation wing with a modern conservatory on the right and a garage block on the left that connects to the house. The boundary wall is topped with decorative cast-iron railings, and the original gates are still present, although there is a modern overthrow on the right.
