Description
Taigh Ailean is a single-storey, three-bay thatched crofthouse located in Ruisgarry, Berneray, on the Isle of North Uist. Likely built in the 19th century, it underwent renovation and rethatching between 2005 and 2010. The building features thick, battered, rubble-built walls with curved angles. On the rear (southwest) elevation, there are three window openings with splayed reveals. It has an end chimney stack and a marram thatched roof, which includes a continuous marram ridge that is secured with netting and weighted down by stones held in place with wire. The listing excludes the single-storey addition on the northeast elevation.
