Cnoc an Dudain, 7a Ruisgarry, Berneray, Isle of North Uist

7a Ruisgarry is a single-storey, roughly rectangular-plan cottage built from rubble, likely dating from the late 18th or early 19th century. It features a thatched roof and thick rubble walls with rounded corners and slab-capped wallheads. The windows are deeply recessed. The cottage is located on the north side of Bays Loch on the east side of the Isle of Berneray, near the west edge of Loch Watersee.

The front (southwest) elevation is three bays wide, with a central door flanked by single windows. The rear (northeast) elevation has four window openings that are spaced unevenly.

The building has timber sash windows and a timber ledge and braced front door. The piended roof was reinstated around 2010 and is thatched with marram grass, featuring a continuous marram ridge. The roof is fully netted and weighted along the eaves with stones, which are secured to the netting by wire. There are stone chimneystacks at each end, topped with plain circular pots.

To the west of 7a Cnoc an Dudain, there is an upturned boat being used as a shelter. Remnants of dry-stone boundary walls can be found to the south and west of the building.

The interior was observed in 2017 and features all 21st-century fabric and layout. The interior roof has exposed timber rafters and timber boards.
