Description
46, 48, 50, and 50A High Street in Forres are two-storey and attic dwellings built in 1789 and 1803. They consist of a five-bay pair of houses, with two separate constructions featuring 19th-century three-bay shopfronts. The first two houses, No 46 and No 48, have three bays, while No 50 and No 50A have two bays with a narrow shopfront.
The ground floor is made of coursed rubble, while the first floor is rendered and painted, with rubble flanks and dressed stone margins. The first-floor windows are narrow and feature two-pane sashes, and there are two canted dormers. The buildings have end and ridge coped stacks and a slate roof. There are wings at the rear.
