Description
49 Mid Street in Keith is a Neo-Tudor building dating from around 1860. It is a two-storey structure with an attic, constructed from tooled coursed rubble with tooled ashlar dressings.
Number 49 features a moulded doorpiece with a moulded four-centre arch that leads to a recessed porch and a panelled door beneath a similar arched opening. The windows are bipartite, with gablets above the upper windows, and narrow four-pane sashes.
Number 51 has a regular three-bay frontage facing Mid Street and three irregular bays that return to Reidhaven Square. The central door is located under a stepped hoodmould, similar to that of number 49, and is flanked by tripartite windows. The remaining windows are bipartite, except for the small attic windows in pointed outer gablets. There is a slightly recessed and curved single angle bay beneath a crenellated wallhead. The first-floor windows are linked by a continuous cill stringcourse that extends across number 49, featuring a stepped hoodmould and two- and four-pane glazing. The building has tall end and wallhead octagonal flue batteries with coped stacks and a steeply pitched slate roof.
Both properties are currently divided into flatted dwellings.
