Description
East Lodge Gate Piers and Gates at Aberlour House is a single-storey, cruciform, classical gate lodge designed by William Robertson in 1838. The building is constructed of polished ashlar and features pediments at the front, supported by unfluted Greek Doric columns that project as a portico at the southwest entrance. The central doorway is flanked by narrow sidelights, and there is a single window on either side of the portico with a panelled apron. A similar window is located in the centre of the southeast return elevation, which faces the driveway. The lodge has a corniced central stack and a shallow roof. The interior has been gutted.
The gatepiers and gates were added around 1860 and consist of a pair of square channelled ashlar corniced gatepiers, with similar piers flanking the pedestrian entrance. Each gatepier is topped with decorative carved stone urn finials. The property features a pair of spearhead cast-iron carriage gates along with matching flanking pedestrian gates.
