Description
Chef's House at Aberlour House is a 2-storey, 3-bay house built between 1860 and 1870. It features a gabled asymmetrical design with long elevations on the northwest and southeast sides, and it has a walled garden wall that connects to the house at the northeast and southwest return gables. The structure is made of brick with tooled ashlar dressings.
The house includes a gabled porch located in the southwest re-entrant angle, and it has round-headed bipartite windows on both the ground and first floors. All windows have corbelled cills, and the ground floor windows are adorned with bracketed cornices. There is extensive long-short detailing on the entrance porch, window fenestration, and the angles of the building. Some first-floor windows extend under gablets and feature multi-pane glazing. The roof has a slate covering with projecting eaves, complemented by four coped ridge stacks and paired end stacks.
A rear door provides access to the garden. There is also a later single-storey flat-roofed extension at the southwest side of the house.
