Description
This building is a mid 18th century barn with a mill wheel and an implement shed located at Rannas. The barn is a substantial single storey and loft structure situated on a sloping site. It is constructed of rubble with tooled ashlar dressings and features long five-bay elevations on the east and west sides, with chamfered margins around the loft windows. There is a large entrance on the east elevation, and the roof is made of local slate.
The implement shed, dating from the mid to late 18th century, is a three-bay structure facing east. It has a gabled roof and includes a series of slender gable tuskers, which were used for securing ropes that held down the former thatch. The roof is covered with Welsh slate and features run-off cavetto skewputts.
