Description
The Convent Buildings of the Convent of Mercy on Abbey Street in Elgin have a core dating back to the late 15th century, with restoration completed in 1896 by architect John Kinross. The structure features an H-plan range that adjoins the south wall of the church, which serves as the north wall of a small quadrangle, and a U-plan court to the south. The building is two storeys high with an attic, constructed from random rubble with ashlar dressings, and topped with a Caithness slate roof that has billet moulding on all chimneyheads and three swept dormers. Inside, there is a square cloister range that is partially glazed and abuts the chapel.
