Description

Warehouses 3 and 4 are part of a whisky distillery complex built around 1897, located on a large site next to the River Dullan. The buildings are constructed of rubble with harl pointing and some tooled dressings, topped with graded slate roofs.

The complex includes a 2-storey, 14-bay former malt barn, which is now used as a store. This barn features an integrated taller 2-bay square-plan kiln with a piended roof and a pagoda cupola, known as No 2 Kiln and No 5 Store.

To the south-west of the site are the warehouses, referred to as No 3 and No 4, which consist of a range of 6 gabled bays. The warehouses have 2-storey gables, with single storey and attic levels along the long elevations.

The glazing patterns vary across the buildings, with timber frames used throughout. The former malt barn has boarded timber shutters below 3- or 6-pane fixed glazing, while the warehouses feature metal bars on their window openings.

The interiors were observed in 2013. The former malt barn warehouses have timber floors supported by cast iron columns and I-beams, along with timber roof trusses. The kiln is divided into ground and first floors, and there are water tanks located on the first floor of the former malt barn.
