Description
Garden Cottages at Melville Castle dates from around 1800 and is a single-storey, five-bay cottage located to the west of the garden farmhouse. The structure is built of random rubble with ashlar dressings.
The entrance elevation is irregular with five bays. There is a replacement timber panelled door positioned to the right of the centre, with a window in each of the flanking bays. To the outer left, there is a boarded door with a window in the bay to the right.
The rear elevation features three bays and includes a greenhouse addition set to the left of centre. There is a window flanking to the outer left and another window in the bay to the right.
The cottage has four-pane timber sash and case windows, with three-pane fixed windows at the rear. It has a grey slate piended roof, a single rendered stack to the left of centre, and cast-iron rainwater goods.
