Description
Ramsay's Monument in Penicuik is a high obelisk built around 1760, possibly designed by Sir James Clerk. The monument features oval openings, known as oculi, and is supported by a high round arch that has a Latin inscription on its inner curve. The structure is made of droved ashlar stone.
