10-14 Steel Street, Gourock

16 Steel Street in Gourock is a two-storey, six-bay flatted block built around 1900. The building features red sandstone, squared and snecked bull-faced rubble with ashlar dressings on the front, while the rear and sides are rendered. A string course runs above the ground floor, with arches and bold keystones over the outer bays and an open pediment above the center. The eaves overhang, revealing exposed rafters, and there are ashlar mullions.

On the front elevation, there are paired doorways to the right of center, which have chip-carving detail on the lintel, with a window above. The second, third, and fifth bays from the left have two-storey canted windows that rest on battered bases and feature shallow finialled roofs. Tall wallhead stacks are positioned at the corners.

The south elevation has a centrally located doorway with a small slated canopy supported by timber brackets that rise from stone corbels, along with flanking windows and a window above. The north elevation mirrors this design.

The rear elevation includes two small rectangular outshoots. There are some timber sash and case windows with plate glass glazing, although most are replacement windows. The roof is piended with slate and has crested red ridge tiles, featuring two central stacks and two wallhead stacks.

The interior was not seen in 1993. A low stepped rubble wall with saddleback coping is present.
