Description

Latheronwheel Bridge is a substantial rubble bridge built between 1809 and 1813, designed by Thomas Telford. It is a single span structure with a dressed rubble arch ring and shallow end buttresses. The parapet has a low dressed rubble coping. The bridge has wide, splayed approaches curving with the road. The bridge dates from the same period as the Parliamentary road and bridge building programme, including the nearby Dunbeath Bridge. It is now bypassed. It crosses the Burn of Latheronwheel and is situated on the A9 road.
