Description
Gillivoan is a mid-to-late 18th century, two-storey, three-bay house. It is built of harl-pointed rubble, with a small gable containing a stack at the apex. There are blocked windows on the west gable, as well as a small attic window. The original windows contained 12 panes of glass. A later single-storey extension runs the full length of the north elevation, covered by a cat-slide roof. A further single-storey gabled wing is located at the rear. The house has end stacks and a Caithness slate roof.
The interior contains little of particular interest, but retains panelled window shutters.
The house was inhabited until the late 1960s and is now used for storage. It is believed to have served as a Free Church Manse immediately after the Disruption of 1843, until a new manse was built in 1865. The statutory address is Gillivoan House.
