Description
Rawcliffe is a two-storey, three-bay house built around 1865, situated on a sloping site with a raised basement facing Marine Road. The exterior features stugged ashlar with ashlar dressings. The southwest elevation showcases Gothic detailing around the central door, which is flanked by colonnettes, a hoodmould, decorative spandrels, and a fanlight. The first floor has pointed arched windows beneath deep eaves gables. On the ground floor, there are canted windows on the northwest elevation and a square projecting window on the northeast elevation, both adorned with stiff leaf capitals on engaged colonettes and stilted pointed heads for each light. The property is complemented by a low garden wall with a quatrefoil pierced balustrade and square gate piers that feature Gothic detailing on their caps.
