Description
South Yarrows Croft House is an early 19th century vernacular single-storey croft house with a rectangular plan and three bays. It is situated on sloping ground and features adjoining byres that extend to the east, forming an irregular linear group. The exterior is characterized by small, deep-set, irregularly spaced windows, along with later openings on the north wall, and thick tarred chimneys. The walls are made of whitewashed rubble.
To the south and east, there are two separate barns with finely worked rough rubble walls that create an irregular U-shaped courtyard around the croft house. The windows are 4-pane sash and case style, with some later fixed timber casements, and the doors are boarded timber. The roofs are made of corrugated asbestos with stone ridges, and there are stone skews with a concrete overlay. The chimney stacks are made of tarred rubble masonry with clay cans, and the rainwater goods are plastic and aluminium.
The interior has not been seen since 2005.
