Description
Druidfield Croft is a traditional croft cottage located in Craggan, Lochearnhead, likely built in the early 19th century, with later additions and alterations from the 19th and early 20th centuries. The cottage is a single storey structure with three bays and features a red corrugated-iron roof, a single dormer window in the attic, and a later byre range attached to the northeast gable.
The cottage retains several original features, including some straw thatch beneath the iron roof, interior timber panelling, fireplaces, and partitions in the cow byre. Inside, the principal rooms showcase traditional tongue-and-groove timber panelling, and the plain stone chimney pieces are complemented by bracketed timber mantelshelves.
The exterior is made of white-washed random rubble with some brick alterations. It has a two-leaf, half-glazed timber-boarded front door and timber-boarded doors leading to the byre. The windows are replacement timber sash and case windows with eight-pane glazing. The painted corrugated-iron roof covers the straw thatch underneath, and the building features coped chimney stacks with short clay cans.
