Kildonan, Strathpeffer

Kildonan and its neighbour are a pair of semi-detached houses built in the late 19th century. They have an asymmetrical design, with the south elevation featuring bowed bays that extend the full height of the buildings and are linked by balconied central bays. The houses are constructed from coursed rubble with contrasting polished ashlar dressings.

Each house has a mirrored facade on its east and west sides. The eastern facade has a gabled and arcaded porch. Each entrance is flanked by three asymmetrical bays, with a central door and a large bowed bay rising the full height on the south side. Above the entrances, on the north side of each, is a canted wooden oriel window under a bargeboarded gable, featuring moulded jambs and panelled detailing in the gablehead.

The slated piended roofs include small, flat-headed dormers. Two-pane glazing, with chequered leaded coloured glass, remains in the upper lights of these dormers. Single, flat-headed dormers are also present on the east and west sides. The roof also has corniced ridge and end stacks, and is slate covered.
