Dunraven Lodge, Strathpeffer

Dunraven Lodge is a villa dating from around 1895, built on two main floors with an attic space. It has four bays facing south, with an asymmetrical design. The exterior walls are of grey rubble stone, contrasted by red, tooled ashlar detailing. The lower floors feature projecting bays, linked by a bracketed cornice that forms a balcony and a covered veranda/porch above. The left-hand bay (west) is canted, while the right-hand bay (east) is rectangular, with corresponding projecting open veranda bays on the first floor, supported by paired and triple wooden columns with decorative detailing between them. A canted bay extends upwards at the southeast corner of the building. The roof is covered in slate and has gabled and piended sections, with three dormers featuring multi-pane glazing; elsewhere the upper windows have multi-pane glazing. The rainwater pipes are made of cast iron and feature small anthemion decorations. The building appears on the first edition Ordnance Survey map of 1876 and is now used as a hotel.
