Description
The property comprises a house, a walled garden, and a former Factor’s office, situated on the Dochfour Estate. The house dates to around 1840 and is a single-storey building with an attic, laid out in a T-shaped plan with a broad southern elevation. It is harled, with margins of tooled ashlar. The main entrance is centrally located on the rear gable, but is now partially obscured by a later timber lean-to porch. This porch incorporates a side entrance and a large transomed and mullioned window with lattice-paned glazing. A later bipartite window is present on the ground floor of the rear wing, accompanied by a single gabled dormer above, likely dating to the late 19th century. The front elevation features a pair of gabled dormers and a later single-storey extension. Other features include 4-pane sash windows, a coped ridge stack, and a slate roof which projects at the eaves with simple bargeboards returning at the gable angles, suggesting broken pediments.
Behind the gardener’s cottage lies a large walled garden built of rubble, situated on a south-facing slope. The north wall is canted, with arched entrances positioned to the east and west. A central entrance in the south wall is closed by a wrought-iron gate. To the west of the garden is a single-storey wing, which previously served as the Factor's office for the Dochfour Estate. The property is currently part of the estate, although this has not always been the case.
