Description
The burial ground dates to 1835 and contains a tall, grey granite obelisk set upon a square, panelled plinth with a stepped base. The obelisk stands within a small, walled burial ground enclosed by a low, coped wall likely dating from the late 19th century, probably 1883. The wall is constructed of tooled ashlar and features an entrance flanked by square ashlar piers topped with shaped caps. A pair of cast and wrought-iron gates mark the entrance. Numerous late 19th and early 20th century tombstones and crosses are also present. The obelisk is inscribed to Evan Baillie, who died in 1835 aged 95, and also to Evan Baillie, who died in 1883 aged 85. Members of both the Baillie and Burton families are buried within the burial ground.
