Description
This is a gate lodge, built in 1855 by A & W Reid, originally serving Guisachan House, which is now a ruin. It is a single-storey building with an attic, and three bays facing southeast. The lodge is constructed of grey rubble with contrasting tooled red ashlar dressings, and a harl-pointed wing to the rear. A central entrance is set within an advanced porch, featuring a shouldered lintel, and is flanked by small windows. A canted bay window is located on the ground floor of the northeast gable, with a first-floor window positioned above. Similar ground and first-floor windows are also present in the southwest return gable. Some lattice pane glazing remains. The roof is slate-covered, and features decorative bargeboards with apex finials and pendants, along with a rear ridge stack. A modern box dormer has been added to the rear wing. Records relating to the lodge can be found at Moray District Record Office in Forres, reference DAWP 815/2-3.
