Fodderty Lodge, Fodderty

Dated 1730, Fodderty Lodge is a two-storey and attic house with a wide, central three-bay section. Two additional bays were added to the west, blending with the original house under a continuous roofline, and flanking single-storey wings were built against the gables. The entire building is harled with tooled margins. The central portion retains its original 1730 three-bay arrangement, with a central doorway now masked by a modern projecting glazed porch, and flanked by mid-19th century canted bays rising the full height of the house. The two additional western bays feature symmetrical window arrangements. Four piended dormers are present. A later 19th-century, single-storey and attic, three-bay cottage addition extends from the east gable, with a projecting gabled centre porch and two piended dormers. A single-storey, four-bay gabled wing with a corrugated iron roof projects from the west gable. Multi-pane glazing is used throughout. The building has corniced end and ridge stacks, and crowsteps to the east gable of the oldest block. Roofs are slate. Rear wings are also present.

The interior of the original house features a wide rear stairwell and some late 18th-century panelling on the first-floor landing. The main entrance door lintel is inscribed "17 THE MANSE OF FODDERTY 30". A datestone to the left of the door reads "17 IMK IB 30".
